These air fryer garlic mushrooms are one of those super easy side dishes that somehow taste way better than they should for how little effort they take… and I love that. They come out tender, nicely seasoned, and just a little crisp around the edges, which makes them so good with dinner, breakfast, or, honestly, just straight from the bowl.

Why you’ll love these air fryer garlic mushrooms

I’m obsessed with how simple this recipe is… just mushrooms, a little oil, and a few basic seasonings. That’s it. Nothing fancy, but the flavor is so good.
They also cook fast, which is always a win in my opinion. If you need an easy vegetable side that does not take over your whole kitchen, this one is such a solid option.
Texture + flavor
These mushrooms are tender in the middle, a little chewy, and slightly crisp around the edges. The garlic, paprika, salt, and pepper give them plenty of flavor, but not so much that they overpower everything else on the plate.

What I really love here is how balanced they are. They taste savory and well seasoned, but still simple enough to go with almost anything… steak, chicken, eggs, pasta, all of it.

Let me show you how I make these air fryer mushrooms
Step 1: Clean the 1 pound of mushrooms with a dry or slightly damp paper towel to remove any dirt. Be gentle, especially around the caps. You want the mushrooms clean, but not wet, because extra moisture can make it harder for them to brown nicely.
Top Tip: If your mushrooms still feel damp after cleaning, pat them dry before seasoning them. That little step helps them brown better in the air fryer.
Step 2: Trim the stems if needed, then cut the mushrooms into quarters. If the mushrooms are very small, you can cut them in half instead. Try to keep the pieces fairly similar in size so they cook at about the same rate.

Step 3: Add the mushrooms to a bowl. Then add 1 tablespoon of olive oil or avocado oil, 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder, 1/4 teaspoon of paprika, 1/4 teaspoon of salt, and 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper. Toss everything together until the mushrooms are evenly coated. Try to be gentle when mixing so the mushrooms do not break apart.
Top Tip: If you want the seasoning to cling really well, toss the mushrooms right after adding everything so the spices do not settle in one spot.
Step 4: Preheat your air fryer to 380°F (195°C). A hot air fryer helps the mushrooms start cooking right away, which is what you want here.
Step 5: Put the mushrooms in your air fryer basket in a fairly even layer, with just a little overlap if needed, since the mushrooms will shrink as they cook.

Air fry the mushrooms at 380°F (195°C) for 12 to 14 minutes. Shake the basket about every 4 minutes so the mushrooms cook evenly on all sides. Start checking around the 10-minute mark if your mushrooms are on the smaller side, because mushroom size can affect the cooking time.

Step 6: Once the mushrooms are browned around the edges and cooked to your liking, transfer them to a serving bowl. If you want, sprinkle on a little chopped parsley or other herbs before serving.
Note: Every air fryer cooks a little differently, so do not stress if yours needs a little more or a little less time.

Storage
If you have leftovers, store the mushrooms in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 to 4 days. They will soften a bit as they sit, which is totally normal.
