The oats taste buttery and chewy, the chocolate middle sets like fudge, and together it feels close to what people call chocolate revel bars, only here it is baked in a round pan, so you slice it more like a cake or pie.

How to Make Air Fryer Chocolate Baked Oats

Follow these steps to make this air fryer chocolate baked oats recipe from start to finish.
Step 1. Cream the butter and brown sugar in a mixing bowl until smooth. Make sure the butter is soft at room temperature so it blends easily.
Step 2. Add the eggs one at a time. Mix after each egg until the batter looks smooth and even.

Step 3. Stir in the flour, baking powder, salt, and rolled oats. The mixture will get thick and heavy, almost like cookie dough.
Step 4. Line the springform pan with parchment paper. Press about two-thirds of the oat mixture into the bottom so you have an even base.
Step 5. For the chocolate filling, put the condensed milk, chocolate, and butter in a small saucepan. Place it over low heat and stir constantly so nothing sticks or burns. Keep going until the mixture is fully melted, smooth, and glossy.

Top Tip: Keep the heat low when melting the chocolate mixture. If the heat is too high, the chocolate can seize or burn, which will ruin the filling.
Step 6. Pour the chocolate mixture over the oat base. Let it spread on its own for a few seconds, then use a spoon to gently push it to the edges so the whole surface is covered.
Step 7. Take the remaining oat mixture and drop small clumps of it over the chocolate. Scatter them around so you get patches of oats with chocolate peeking through between them.

Step 8. Place the pan in your air fryer basket. Bake at 170°C or 350°F for about 25 minutes. The dessert is ready when the top of the oats is lightly golden and the chocolate layer looks set and fudgy.
Note: All air fryers bake a little differently. Start checking at 22 minutes to make sure the top does not get too dark.
Step 9. Take the pan out and let the dessert cool for at least 20 minutes before slicing. This helps the chocolate layer firm up so you get neat slices.

How to Serve Air Fryer Chocolate Baked Oats

This dessert is rich enough to serve on its own. Slice it into wedges and enjoy warm or at room temperature. If you want to dress it up, add a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a spoonful of whipped cream on the side.
Storage Tips
You can keep leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for two days or in the fridge for up to five days. If storing in the fridge, let the slices sit out for a few minutes before eating so the chocolate softens. You can also warm slices briefly in the microwave to bring back the gooey texture.

Top Tip: These slices freeze well. Wrap each piece in parchment and store them in a freezer bag. When you want one, let it thaw at room temperature or warm it gently in the microwave.
Variations for Air Fryer Chocolate Baked Oats

There are plenty of small changes you can make that really affect the taste or texture. Each one keeps the layers firm and the baking time the same.
- Peanut butter swirl
Stir two to three tablespoons of smooth peanut butter into the warm chocolate filling, or drop spoonfuls on top and marble it with a knife. - Nut crunch
Mix half a cup of chopped walnuts or pecans into the oat mixture before pressing the base. Toast the nuts first for a deeper flavor. - Coconut boost
Add half a cup of shredded coconut to the oats, or sprinkle a quarter cup over the top for the last five minutes so it toasts without burning. - Espresso chocolate
Stir one teaspoon of instant espresso powder into the warm chocolate filling. It makes the chocolate taste deeper without turning it into a coffee dessert. - Orange chocolate
Grate the zest of one orange into the chocolate filling. The citrus lifts the rich chocolate and works well with oats. - Warm spice
Add one teaspoon of vanilla and half a teaspoon of cinnamon to the oat mixture. This gives a cozy flavor without overpowering the chocolate. - Flaky salt finish
Right after baking, sprinkle a pinch of flaky sea salt over the top. It sharpens the chocolate flavor and balances the sweetness. - White chocolate version
Use white chocolate for the filling and reduce the brown sugar in the oat mixture by two tablespoons so it is not overly sweet. - Jam ripple
Dot a few teaspoons of thick raspberry jam over the chocolate layer, then spread gently. The tartness cuts the richness, and the jam is thick enough that it will not make the center runny.
Did You Know: Chocolate revel bars, the classic name for this recipe, first became popular in the 1960s and were often baked in square pans for church gatherings and bake sales.
