No-Oven Cooking Method

no-oven cake cooking method

This no-oven cooking method is ideal for those without an oven or looking for a new approach. The cake is cooked on the stovetop in a heavy-bottom pot with a layer of salt at the bottom for even heat distribution.

A wire rack elevates the baking tray above the salt, ensuring the cake cooks gently and uniformly. This technique saves energy and makes baking accessible to all, resulting in a uniquely moist and delicious cake.

Baking Indian Honey Cake in the Oven

You can easily bake Indian honey cake in the oven too! Just preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Follow the same recipe to prepare the batter and pour it into a greased and lined baking tray.

Bake for about 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Once baked, soak the cake in honey syrup, spread the jam on top, and sprinkle with coconut flakes. Enjoy the same delicious, moist cake with a slightly different baking method!

Notes

  • Consistency is key: when mixing the batter, ensure it is smooth with no lumps to guarantee a perfect, fluffy cake.
  • Gradual addition: When adding milk to the batter, do it in small quantities, ensuring each addition is well mixed before adding more. This helps to reach the right consistency.
  • Salt layer trick: The salt layer helps in even baking and prevents the bottom of the cake from burning. Make sure the salt is spread evenly.
  • Use of parchment paper: Always grease the baking tray and parchment paper to prevent the cake from sticking.
  • The toothpick test: The best way to check if the cake is done is by inserting a toothpick in the middle. If it comes out clean, the cake is ready.
