Why you’ll love these cookies

What I really like is that you can bake just a few cookies at a time and keep the rest of the dough in the fridge for later. So when you want fresh cookies again, the dough is already there.
They are also just so satisfying to make. A little cookie dough, a few chocolate pieces, a lined air fryer basket, and suddenly the kitchen smells like warm cookies. How can you not love that?!
Texture and flavor

These cookies have lightly crisp edges and soft, chewy centers. They taste buttery and sweet, with plenty of chocolate in every bite.
Let’s be honest… warm chocolate chip cookies are always hard to resist. In my opinion, these are best when they have cooled just enough to pick up, but the chocolate is still soft and melty.
Easy cookie ingredients

- 1/2 cup (113 g) unsalted butter, melted
- 1/2 cup (100 g) brown sugar
- 1/4 cup (50 g) granulated sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups (190 g) all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup (170 g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
Note: You can use chopped semi-sweet baking chocolate instead of chocolate chips. Milk chocolate also works great if you like a sweeter cookie.

- Air fryer
How to make cookies in the air fryer

Step 1: Take a mixing bowl and add half a cup of brown sugar, a quarter cup of granulated sugar, and half a cup of melted unsalted butter. Then crack in one egg and add one teaspoon of vanilla extract. Mix everything until it looks smooth, glossy, and well combined.
Step 2: Take a sieve and add one and a half cups of all-purpose flour, one teaspoon of baking soda, and a quarter teaspoon of salt. Sift them into the bowl, then mix with a spatula until you end up with a soft cookie dough. Stop once you do not see dry flour anymore.

Top Tip: Once the flour is mixed in, stop there. Overmixing cookie dough can make the cookies less soft, and nobody wants a tough cookie.
Step 3: Add one cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips or chopped semi-sweet baking chocolate to the cookie dough. Fold the chocolate through with a spatula until the pieces are spread through the dough.
Step 4: Line your air fryer basket with parchment paper or an air fryer liner. Use a cookie scoop to scoop the dough onto the liner, leaving space between the cookies because they spread as they bake.

Step 5: You can keep the rest of the dough in the fridge for later, so it is ready whenever you want to make a few fresh cookies again.
Step 6: Bake the cookies in the air fryer for about 5 to 7 minutes at 325°F, or about 160°C. Start checking at 5 minutes. The cookies are ready when the edges look lightly golden and the tops look set, but the centers still look soft.

Step 7: Let the cookies sit in the air fryer basket for 2 to 3 minutes before moving them. They will firm up as they cool, which makes them much easier to lift.
Did You Know: Cookies keep setting after they come out of the heat, so a soft center right after baking is usually a good thing.
Storing the dough

You can keep the extra cookie dough in the fridge for up to 7 days. I love this because it means fresh cookies can happen again later with almost no work.
You can also scoop the dough into balls and freeze them for up to 3 months. Bake them straight from frozen and add an extra 1 to 2 minutes if needed.

Storing baked cookies

Keep the baked cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for about 3 days. They are best fresh, but they still make a very good little snack the next day.
If you want to warm one up, place it in the air fryer for about 1 minute at a low temperature, or microwave it for a few seconds. Just warm it gently, because cookies can dry out if they go too long.
Quick cookie fixes

If the air fryer chocolate chip cookies spread too much, the dough may have been too warm. Chill the dough for about 30 minutes before baking the next batch.
If the bottoms seem too soft, give the cookies another minute or two in the air fryer, then let them rest in the basket before moving them.
If the cookies come out dry, they probably baked too long. Next time, start checking at 5 minutes and take them out when the tops look set but the centers still look soft.
Serving ideas

These air fryer chocolate chip cookies are perfect with a glass of milk, a cup of coffee, or just eaten warm straight from the basket after they cool for a minute. I mean… that is the best part.
They are also sooo cute with a small scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side. Warm cookie, cold ice cream, melty chocolate. Super delicious.
