    Great tips! I find a lot of people, especially women, struggle with weight loss because they are aiming too high to fast. It takes you a long time to get bigger and have more fat on your frame so expecting it to all melt off in a matter of weeks it unrealistic. For 20 pounds, you can expect it to take 3 to 6 months depending on your age and what you are doing to lose it. I really like how you point out treating one’s self too. You can still eat what you love, just eat less of it if it is unhealthy or calorie dense/rich food.

    I actually own that book! It is fantastic and so simple to follow. Also, great tips. I feel like anytime I struggle with my weight, I tend to overcomplicate things and this ends up back-firing.     Love #4! I tried so many different weight loss plans, but nothing really worked for me until I grasped that I had to eat foods I liked in order to stick with any plan! So now I’ve found healthy ways to make things like pizza and ice cream (no joke, these recipes are my life savers!) and I still eat my faves, just healthy versions with a few more veggies and less sugar!

    I am telling you now, there is no magic bullet. The only proven way to actually lose weight is to consume fewer calories than your body actually needs. It works, however, it might be a bit difficult to get started. Also, educate yourself on the calories in the foods you eat. What I did was, for the first week, I did weigh everything I did eat and I worked out how many calories I was consuming with every meal.

    Once you know how many calories you are eating then you can easily adjust that accordingly unless you are really big boned or have a job where you don’t move at all, then aim for less than 2000 calories per day or even better, go for 1500 calories per day, but from my experience, 2000 was easier to achieve. You might not notice that much difference for the first 5-10 days or so but then you will start to lose weight quite steadily if you are disciplined and keep up with your diet. As is says in the post, allow yourself some treats once a week or so, otherwise it will be too hard and too boring and your metabolism will slow down too much so you need to restart so that your body won’t go to starvation mode.
